Abstract

The diffusion of solutes into spherical beads and cylindrical filaments of macroreticular resin is modeled for the ideal and nonideal cases. These results are then used to develop mathematical models for the operation of continuous flow columns packed with such resins. Effects of design and operating parameters on the breakthrough curves of the columns are calculated.
