Abstract
The literature on role-playing in educational settings gives little attention to the preparation of group atmosphere in the classroom. This article addresses the importance of preparation as well as strategies and techniques for transforming a traditional classroom structure into a cohesive group environment that supports individual and collective risk taking. Role-plays have the potential to provide students with an “almost real” experience that can enhance their interest in group work practice, an interest the profession of social work should make every effort to inspire and sustain.
