Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of diabetic treatment, diabetic duration, diabetic complications, self assessed health, age, anxiety and depression on the indices of relationship to spouse/partner and sexual function. Participants were 103 caucasian women, 20 to 60 years of age. Hierarchical multiple linear regression was used for data analyses. The F for the multiple regression equation for Relationship to Spouse was nonsignificant whereas it was significant for Sexual Function, F (7,95) = 3.9206, p.<.025. Variables contributing to significant variance in the Sexual Function Score were anxiety and depression scores and self assessed health. Results of the study emphasize the importance of psychosocial variables on a woman's perceived effects of diabetes on sexual function.
