Abstract

Teacher educators have a responsibility to prepare teachers who can promote democratic participation for children and youth. Democratic educational research allows for the democratic participation of everyone with a vested interest in promoting effective and democratic schools. This article argues for the possibility of democratic educational research as a venue for preparing democratic educators. The necessary conditions for creating and sustaining spaces in which people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives can participate in democratic educational research are also described.
