1. One of the early techniques of data collection is the parental diary which records a child's development (see Gvozdev Citation1949; Rūķe-Draviņa Citation1973, 1982).
2. Collection of Lithuanian data for child language research was initiated by Professor Magdalena Smoczyńska (Jagellonian University in Kraków), who has spent an enormous amount of time teaching young Lithuanian scholars the basics of data analysis.
