Pages 196-212 | Published online: 21 May 2014

Abstract

This study provides information about clubhouse members' participation in a rehabilitation intervention program using daily life activities (occupations) to empower themselves with the self-determination and internal locus of control needed for their psychosocial rehabilitation. Clubhouse members participated in a ten-week goal-directed occupation-based program to develop psycho-educational strategies that could be integrated into the clubhouse structure for personal goal setting and attainment to improve overall health and wellness for community reengagement.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

The authors wish to acknowledge the contributions of the HOPE Clubhouse members and staff. We would like to acknowledge the research team contributions of Kristin Dedrick, Kate Millard, Alayna Tanaka, and Vito Urso, who were graduate students in the Occupational Therapy Program at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of the study.
