Abstract

In this paper, one of a series on the oribatid mite fauna of Hòn Chông limestone hills, Vietnam, we describe two new species: Papillacarus whitteni sp. nov. and Basilobelba maidililae sp. nov.

We are indebted to Anne Bedos and Louis Deharveng for the opportunity to study the mites they collected in Kien Giang Province in South of Vietnam as well as for information about the sampling localities. Field trips were organized by colleagues from the National University of Ho Chi Minh City and of the Institute of Tropical Biology of Ho Chi Minh City, in the frame of various small-scale projects that followed their 1993 warning about serious quarrying threats to Hòn Chông limestone hills.
