Abstract

Brown's syndrome and Duane's retraction syndrome are well-recognised patterns of incomitant ocular motility with the usual presentation in childhood. Both syndromes are typically sporadic but occasionally may be hereditary, particularly with Duane's retraction syndrome. This short report details the ocular findings in a single family unit showing autosomal dominant inheritance for Duane's retraction syndrome and reduced penetrance for Brown's syndrome with the unusual combination of both Brown's and Duane's retraction syndromes in two family members.
