Neuro-Ophthalmology and EUNOS are reunited

, &

The journal Neuro-Ophthalmology was founded in 1980 by Freddie Huber, then Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Zurich, who acted as the first Editor-in-Chief. He was succeeded as Editor-in-Chief in 1994 by Adolphe Neetens of the University of Ghent. Not content with this achievement, these two pioneers of our specialty went on to organise the first meeting of the European Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (EUNOS) in 1993 and through their influence, the journal Neuro-Ophthalmology became effectively the Society’s Journal.

The proceedings of each of the Society’s bi-annual meetings have been published in Neuro-Ophthalmology. The pages of Neuro-Ophthalmology therefore provide testimony to the success and growth of EUNOS, now in its 25thyear. Dr. Klara Landau, an Editorial Board member of Neuro-Ophthalmology, presently serves as the President of EUNOS.

When we took over from Professor Zrenner as Co-Editors-in-Chief in 2008, it became clear that the relationship between EUNOS and Neuro-Ophthalmology needed to be placed on a more secure and permanent basis. We have been working towards this aim ever since and are delighted, along with Taylor and Francis, the publisher of Neuro-Ophthalmology, and our entire team to announce that we have joined with EUNOS as official partners.

A subscription to EUNOS will now include a subscription to both the print and online versions of Neuro-Ophthalmology. You may be reading these lines as a new reader of Neuro-Ophthalmology because of your EUNOS membership and we welcome you in our community. But perhaps you read this text and would like to join EUNOS and benefit from the many membership advantages such as reduced fees for the Society’s meetings, connecting with colleagues from Europe and beyond, accessing teaching material on the website and opportunities in collaborative research endeavours promoted by EUNOS. We encourage you to visit our website at www.eunosweb.eu and consider joining the Society.

The cover page of the journal, beginning with this issue, has the EUNOS logo and specifies that Neuro-Ophthalmology is the official journal of EUNOS.We look forward to a long and fruitful association with EUNOS and its growing membership.
