Evolution postglaciaire et récente de la végétation des Monts de la Marche d'après l'analyse pollinique

Résumé

Des tourbières des Monts d'Ambazac (alt. 700 m) et de Blond (alt. 515 m) ont fourni des diagrammes polliniques depuis la période atlantique, représentée par une forêt de chênes avec hêtres rares, une aulnaie pure ou mélangée de bouleaux peuplant les tourbières. Une poussée du hêtre, attribuée à la fin de l'Atlantique et au Subboréal, est contemporaine d'indices d'occupation pastorale. Puis de grands défrichements font régresser le hêtre au profit du chêne; les tourbières sont déboisées; le charme, le châtaignier, les céréales apparaissent. La mise en valeur est partagée entre l'agriculture et l'élevage, mais la lande a atteint une grande extension sur les Monts d'Ambazac au cours du dernier millénaire. La comparaison avec d'autres régions périphériques du Massif Central de moyenne et de basse altitude met en évidence l'analogie de l'évolution du paysage végétal jusqu'à ce que l'intervention humaine diversifie celle-ei.

Summary

Peat bogs located on Monts d'Ambazac (alt. 700 m) and Monts de Blond (alt. 515 m) have given pollen diagrams since the atlantic period, that was represented by an oak forest with sparce beeches, an alderwood pure or mixed with birches occupying peat bogs. An increase of beech, attributed to the limit Atlantic-Subboreal, occured contemporaneously with signs of pastoral occupation. Then great forest clearance lead to the regression of beech to the profit of oak; bogs are deforested; hornbeam, chestnut, cereals appear. Land use is shared between cultivation and grazing, but the heathlands have reached a large area on the Monts d'Ambazac during the last millenium. Comparison with other Massif Central surrounding regions of middle and law altitude shows analogy in the evolution of the vegetal landscape until its diversification by man.
