Meeting the Challenge of Distance Learning in a Public/NonProfit MPA Curriculum

Pages 519-539 | Published online: 04 Apr 2007

Abstract

This article contends that there is a growing interest in the theory and practice of Distance Learning (DL). The article presents a DL application in a public/nonprofit administration curriculum. A description of the major DL platforms is made including the author's use of the WebCT and Yahoo groups platforms.

Moreover, the article examines the many technological and behavioral challenges of DL. It is argued that in meeting such challenges, the higher education community must find ways to invest and support flexible platforms that support all faculty. Until such solutions are found, DL may never reach its fullest potential.
