International Journal of Public Administration invites authors to contribute to the special issue “Public Administration in Education.” The vision for the special issue is to discuss the state-of-the-art research in the two areas of (i) public policy in education sector and (ii) administration and management of educational organizations. The aim of this special issue is to cover research in these two fields across all educational levels – from preschool to higher education – and provide views about international contexts and debates.
Contributions are particularly welcome from scholars who explore how the following dimensions of administration are linked with each other in educational sector:
public governance approaches, such as funding and accountability systems, legislative regimes, power structures;
administration and management of and within educational organizations;
performance outcomes of students, teachers (faculty), and educational organizations and educational organizations as a whole, including their efficiency and effectiveness;
innovations in education and public administration and management.
We highly encourage articles with rigorous empirical research strategies, both qualitative and quantitative, that cover a broad range of questions. Examples of potentially interesting topics include, but not limited to, the following:
How do various funding and accountability systems, legislative regimes, and power structures of governing bodies effect educational process, internal administration, behavior, outcomes, and organizational efficiency?
Do changes in public administration approaches at federal, regional and local levels change the ‘rules-in-use’ in kindergartens, schools and universities?
Does the introduction of specific internal management approaches and new tools and innovations for administration (e.g. big data for educational analytics) change the behavior and outcomes of key actors of educational organizations?
