ABSTRACT

This study aims at investigating how specific factors influence the onset of cognitive decline. 102 participants (51 with cognitive decline a 51 healthy control), aged 45 to 95, were involved in the study. All participants underwent a neurological evaluation. The CSHA Risk Factor Questionnaire was also administered. The level and type of education, number, and kind of leisure activities, exercise, smoking, and physical, psychological, or psychiatric conditions were found to be linked to cognitive decline, either as protective or as risk factors. Way to use information to prevent or slow down cognitive decline in clinical aging practice are discussed.
