Abstract

The aim of this study was photocatalytic degradation of Direct Blue 199 and Basic Yellow 28 dyes under the influence of visible light by TiO2-Fe2O3 nanocomposite. TiO2-Fe2O3 nanocomposite was synthesized by the Sol-gel method and the properties of the nanocomposite were a characterized by using FTIR, SEM, XRD and TEM analysis. XRD analysis showed that the production of titanium oxide and iron oxide without any impurities and the size of TiO2-Fe2O3 nanocomposite crystals was calculated using Debay-Scherrer relationship at about 17 nm. SEM images showed a nanoparticle pattern with dimensions of about 25 nm for the traditional nanocomposite. Also, photocatalytic behavior of the synthesized nanocomposite in the removal of Direct Blue 199 and Basic Yellow 28 dyes from the aqueous medium was investigated by irradiating a metal halide lamp in a period of 60 minutes of darkness and 150 minutes of light. In this research, pH, dye protection concentration, nanocomposite content and irradiation time were considered as the most effective factors in the photocatalytic degradation of direct blue dyes 199 and yellow base 28 and it was determined that the values of experimental data and calculated from Through the model they conform well to the correlation coefficient of 98.7%. Finally, the degradation rate of TiO2-Fe2O3 nanocomposite with a ratio of 0.75: 1 for direct blue 199 and Basic Yellow 28 was 96.77% and 97.68%, respectively.
