Abstract

Core and shell polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) were synthesized with hydrophilic and hydrophobic polyol, Isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), Polypropylene Glycol (PPG), polyester polyol, and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA). These polyols were mixed at different fraction prior to neutralization. These dispersions were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), particle size analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), optical microscopy. Effect of increasing shell content on gloss and drying time were also evaluated.
