Abstract

Because the need for remedial mental health services has outstripped treatment resources, mental health professionals must shift focus from remediation to prevention. Group-based delivery of such services promotes economical use of intervention resources. This article summarizes developmental themes, interventions, issues, and goals emerging from a review of more than 70 process and outcome studies of group-based delivery of preventive health services for later adolescents and adults published during the past decade.
