Group Work With Transgender Clients

Abstract

Drawing on the existing literature, the authors’ research and clinical experiences, and the first author's personal journey as a member and leader of the transgender community, this article offers a brief history of group work with transgender clients followed by suggestions for group work with transgender clients from a social justice perspective. The article includes specific information about the elements of groups, including types of groups, leader competencies, group members, location, and group format.
