ABSTRACT
Literacy is an essential skill in the modern world, as having the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively is critical. Additionally, financial stability is imperative in a Western society that values wealth and upward mobility. Together, financial literacy is a crucial combination of skills and education that allows people to make efficient/knowledgeable monetary decisions. Although many U.S.-born citizens struggle with financial competence, U.S. born Blacks appear to suffer more economical disadvantages. To assist in ameliorating these disparities, this article promotes a therapeutic financial literacy group for Black male teenagers, which is thematically based on popular rap songs glamorizing money.
