The Log Gamma Distribution in the Reliability Analysis of Highly Reliable Systems

Pages 287-300 | Published online: 14 Aug 2013

SYNOPTIC ABSTRACT

The Mellin transform is a useful tool for carrying out the analysis of parametric reliability, nonparametric reliability, and system availability. Parametric system reliability is concerned with the reliability analysis of a system consisting of N independent subsystems, each having an exponential life distribution whose failure rate is estimated from life test data. Nonparametric system reliability involves the reliability analysis of a system consisting of N independent subsystems whose life distributions are not known. The analysis of system availability is carried out on the basis of snapshot data obtained on each of the N component subsystems. The reliability and availability models utilized are Bayesian models.
