On the Limits of Type 1 and Type 2 Nudges as Instruments of Public Policy

Pages 307-308 | Published online: 02 Nov 2017

ABSTRACT

The work of Lin, Osman, and Ashcroft (Citation2017, this issue) provides an informed discussion of Type I and Type II nudges as policy instruments for promoting health. Although I have some critique of the generality of their arguments regarding Type I nudges and some assumptions around an informed public, I find their discussion of Type II nudges as policy instruments compelling and timely.
