Die transaksionele perspektief in die Kommunikasiekunde

Pages 67-74 | Published online: 04 Dec 2007

SUMMARY

The transactional perspective is mainly a metatheory in Communication Science. The perspective exists of a number of coherent concepts with a central focus on communication as dialogue. The transactional perspective emphasises relationships in transactions and is an attempt to limit the extent of the communication phenomenon to symbolic acts. Although it is not a well developed theory, the transactional perspective can be used to understand and explain the phenomenon of communication and to point out broad trends of what can be expected in certain situations. This transactional perspective highlights human communication as a complex and multidimensional event. Its main advantage is its compatability with other theoretical perspectives such as the systems perspective.
