Award: the best article of the year 2022

The Publisher and Editors of Tourism Recreation Research (TRR) extend their congratulations to Dr Attila Lengyel, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Debrecen, Hungary and Drs. Eerang Park and Sangkyun Kim, School of Business & Law, Edith Cowan University, Australia, & Min Xu, School of Journalism and Communication, Yangzhou University, China for their papers Authenticity, mindfulness and destination liminoidity: a multi-level model, published in Tourism Recreation Research, 47(1), 2022, pp. 31–46 and Hunger for learning or tasting? An exploratory study of food tourist motivations visiting food museum restaurants, published in Tourism Recreation Research, 47(2), 2022, pp. 130–144. The first paper is ranked high for its quality of content, style of presentation, originality, and broad subject interest, while the second is ranked for its broad subject interest and practical usability of research.

Attila Lengyel is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, University of Debrecen, Hungary. He holds an MSc in Agricultural Economics, and MA in English Literature and a PhD in Regional Sciences. The title of his doctoral dissertation was: Spatial aspects of tourism, mindfulness and sustainability. His research interests are sustainable tourism, slow tourism, tourism degrowth, mindfulness and tourism, spirituality and tourism, authenticity in tourism, psychological wellbeing and tourism.

Eerang Park is a Vice-Chancellor's Fellow, at the School of Business & Law, Edith Cowan University, Australia. Her research interests include community engagement in tourism development, food tourism, and tourist experience, and her research involves multiple stakeholders’ perspectives. She is a co-editor of the book Food Tourism in Asia (2019). Her current research projects focus on food and gastronomy tourism, particularly in Asian tourism contexts.

Sangkyun Kim is an Associate Professor of Tourism in the Edith Cowan University, Australia. His work is interdisciplinary at the boundaries of social psychology, cultural studies, media studies, geography and tourism. He is on the editorial boards of leading tourism journals. He is an editor of the books Film Tourism in Asia: Evolution, Transformation and Trajectory (2018) and Food Tourism in Asia (2019). He is a Visiting Professor at the School of History, Culture and Communication, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Min Xu is an Assistant Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Yangzhou University, China. Her research interests include media and everyday life, gender and media, and special interest tourism such as food tourism. She has published her research in book chapters and in journals such as Media, Culture & Society, Chinese Journal of Communication, Celebrity Studies, Tourist Studies, and Feminist Media Studies.
