Abstract
In this study, transient ignition on a hot plate is analyzed numerically. In addition to the transient energy and species equations, the transient momentum equation is also considered. A comparison is made between the results of transient velocity field and those of steady velocity field. It is found that the transient velocity field has the effect of increasing the ignition length and ignition time. The effects of wall temperature, Prandtl number and Schmidt number are also studied.
