Abstract
Application of holographic interferometry to temperature measurement in premixed flames with different flame structures is investigated in this study. It is known that the fuel‐rich flame has a more complex flame structure than the fuel‐lean flame. Hence it is speculated that the effect of composition change on the reconstruction of interferometric temperature can be overlooked or assumed by a simple, linear relationship. This study reveals that this composition change effect is significant for the case of rich flame and has to be taken into account in the reconstruction of interferometric temperature. On the other hand, a linear distribution of molar refractivity in the reconstruction process yields satisfactory interferometric temperature measurements for the case of lean flame, compared with the thermocouple measurement.
