Abstract

Based on grey relational analysis, this paper develops a new approach to backing up a simulated truck to a loading dock. Unlike the neural control system, which requires extensive computation for training, and fuzzy control systems which require fuzzification, fuzzy inference, and defuzzification for obtaining a crisp output, the proposed approach provides a simple and efficient scheme, which needs no training process or complex computation, to back up a simulated truck to a loading dock. The space the simulated truck goes through may be empty or contain obstacles. We can see from the simulation results that the proposed approach demonstrates its usefulness in the considered control problems.
