Abstract

The conversion of a B‐spline curve in different domains of degree through degree raising or degree reduction is common when transferring the B‐spline from one computer system to another. This study explores further degree reduction in a Bézier curve, a special type of B‐spline curve, by use of a tridiagonal matrix approach. We establish the linear relationship of the original control points of a Bézier curve of degree n + 1 which is suitable for degree reduction.
