Abstract

Due to the lack of an approximation of the Kronecker-delta property, using the element-free Galerkin method (EFGM) it is difficult to impose the essential boundary condition. Coupling EFGM with the radial point interpolation method (RPIM) is a promising method. However, previous methods will produce large errors on the interface of EFGM region and RPIM region. These errors reduce the significance of coupling EFGM with RPIM. In this paper, a new coupling technique for integrating EFGM with RPIM is proposed and the accuracy on the interface of EFGM region and RPIM region is improved. Numerical examples show that this method gives reasonably accurate results.
