IETE Technical Review — A Rising International Journal from India

(Editor-in-Chief)

The major shift in the way IETE Technical Review is managed came in 2008 when, for the first time in the life of this journal, the online submission and reviewing system was introduced and, parallel to the print version, an online version of the journal was began. The editorial board was revamped with active researchers well known in their respective areas. Soon the journal has started attracting submissions from across the world. The journal also has received tremendous support from reviewers across the globe in choosing the best papers for publication. This is happy news for a technical community working in all areas of electronics and communication engineering. In fact, we have also broadened the areas of coverage in IETE Technical Review giving an opportunity to the authors working in a wide range of areas to show case their work in this fast-growing journal.

It is heartening to inform you that IETE Technical Review has been included in the Web of Science Journal Citation Reports since 2008 making it an ideal medium for publishing research. This is particularly important for the up and coming researchers who are required to publish in journals that follow high standards of reviewing.

One of the primary indications of the growing importance of a journal is how often its papers are cited by other journals. From you can see that within a couple of years of introducing the online version of IETE Technical Review, the citation of its papers published is on the rise. This is an indication of the quality of papers published in this journal and provides confidence to the authors in publishing their work in IETE Technical Review.

The number of countries from which submissions are made for a publication in IETE Technical Review is also growing. shows the names of countries from which IETE Technical Review has published manuscripts (about 45). Apart from India, the top three countries whose authors have published in this journal include China, South Korea and USA.

One of the important questions the prospective authors ask is the processing time for the submitted manuscripts. The manuscript processing statistics for IETE Technical Review during the last 12 months provided by ScholarOne is given below. It can be seen clearly that the reviewers and editors are very prompt in handling the manuscripts. The average time from initial submission to final decision is only 28.8 days. But the rate of acceptance for the last 12 months is only 17.5% — i.e. only 90 out of 515 submitted manuscripts were accepted last year. Therefore, authors can be assured that only the best of the manuscripts handled by the reviewers will be accepted.

In year 2016, we look forward to further improve the quality of IETE Technical Review. Please join me in this effort to make IETE Technical Review a most sought after journal disseminating research of highest possible standards. I would like to thank all the staff of the publications section of IETE in New Delhi, and the staff of Taylor & Francis, UK whose help and support have significantly contributed to the growth of this journal.
