Abstract

Human development is a process which is studied in the context of the changing world in which we live. Life is the manifestation of the complex network (Biomatrix) of processes (teleons), which take place on a multitude of levels. The paper examines the dynamics of teleons and their interactions and looks at development at the various levels of the Biomatrix. It examines the requirements to development and discusses obstructions which could hamper development.

It concludes on the optimistic note, that human development is the conscious evolution of mankind, the path man or woman chooses into the future. Although the present extent of global development problems is not encouraging, man created his social systems and his way of life, which means that with insight, vision and commitment, he can change his way of thinking and acting towards the achievement of a meaningful, worthwhile life.
