Writing References for the 1990s

Pages 343-354 | Published online: 03 Aug 2006

ABSTRACT

Pointing out that little serious attention has been given to reference writing as an important part of the process of employing teachers, this paper attempts to identify some of the issues as they present themselves in Britain in the mid‐1990s. It suggests what information references should contain, illustrating this with specimen quotations. It discusses the procedures necessary for principled reference writing in the context of the British Government's Circular 9/92 partnership arrangements.
