The contribution of economics to the study of leisure: a review

Pages 345-364 | Published online: 18 Sep 2006

Abstract

The paper reviews aspects of the scope of the economist's interest in, and contribution to, the study of leisure. No attempt is made to provide a full and comprehensive guide to all leisure-related work with an economic content but rather to assess the main concerns of the economist, the current state of the art in tackling each of these concerns, and the main dimensions of future developments of relevance to those interested in leisure.
