Abstract
This paper derives from a series of courses run as a development from the Nottingham/Derby steering group concerned with practice teaching and in response to the Care for Tomorrow document. It charts the development of a structure that is concerned to meet CCETSW guidelines and explores two important elements, the role of the practice tutor and the group process. It explores teaching methods, selecting procedures, course setting, curriculum content and evaluation. It finishes by reviewing a number of issues that have still to be resolved. It points out that practice teaching should not be dealt with in isolation but as part of the whole process of practice, organisation and training in social work.
