Abstract
This article examines the proposition that firms which supply advanced producer services are primarily dependent upon the manufacturing sector to provide a demand for their output. A case study of firms based in Leeds and Sheffield revealed that this was not in fact the case, since although the manufacturing sector was a significant source of clients for these firms it was less important than the service sector itself. Moreover, the respondents to the survey were Sound to be. users of advanced producer services themselves thus reinforcing the linkages within this sector.
