Pages 44-51 | Accepted 01 Dec 1997, Published online: 19 Oct 2007

Summary

In May 1997 the Membership and Qualifications Board (MQB) of the British Psychological Society (BPS) accepted a proposal from the Division of Educational and Child Psychology (DECP) Training Committee that all professional training courses in educational psychology in England and Wales should be extended from 1 to 3 years. MQB have recommended that this proposal be implemented by the year 2001 and that, from then on, 1 year courses will cease to be recognised. One of the authors of this article (Irvine Gersch) has written to all principal educational psychologists (PEPs) giving further details about the proposal.
