Abstract
Over the years a number of drugs have been used in the management of some forms of sexual dysfunction. Until recently, the drugs used for this purpose had been developed and prescribed for other indications and sexual side-effects noted were considered to have potential benefit in treating sexual dysfunction. Now drugs are being developed specifically for the treatment of sexual dysfunction, with pharmacotherapy for erectilex disorder leading the field. This paper reviews current developments and discusses the advantages and possible pitfalls of the new pharmacological treatments of sexual dysfunction.
