In the article New azo-benzothiazole based liquid crystals: synthesis and study of the effect of lateral substituents on their liquid crystalline behaviour, the image used in figure 6(b), and in the article’s graphical abstract, was submitted in error to the Publishers. The image in question was originally posted by the National Science Foundation of the USA in their outreach project “Multimedia Gallery” (October 18, 2010), https://www.nsf.gov/news/mmg/mmg_disp.jsp?med_id=59511 courtesy of Oleg D. Lavrentovich, and was stored on the authors’ hard drive alongside their own work. The correct image is reproduced below:
