Abstract
Phase transitions of cholestanyl n-ω-monohydrofluoroalkanoates (C27H47OCO-(CF2)nCF2H, n = 1, 3, 5, 7) (CAHFA) and cholestanyl n-perfluoroalkanoates (C27H47OCO(CF2)mCF3 m = 0, 1, 2, 6) (CAPFA) were studied by D.S.C. and dielectric measurements. No liquid-crystalline phase is observed for CAHFA, and in CAPFA, one monotropical liquid-crystalline phase is found on cooling only for m = 6.
