Monte Carlo simulations of segregation and precipitation in alloys under irradiation

Abstract

We present Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations based on a simple atomic model of diffusion in alloys under irradiation. The model takes into account the creation of point defects, recombination of close vacancy–interstitial pairs and point defect elimination at sinks. It is applied to simple cases of coupling between radiation-induced segregation and precipitation in binary super-saturated solid solutions.
