Alan Tait

In this article Alan Tait, Senior Counsellor in the O.U. U.K.’s Cambridge Regional Centre, suggests that an ideology has grown up around Open and Distance Learning which obscures full understanding of its role in modern societies. Demonstrating that Open and Distance Learning has served social policies of very different kinds at different times in different countries, the author draws together a range of critical approaches from distance and adult education literature which, he argues, should bring the age of innocence for Open and Distance Learning to an end.
