Notes on contributors

Greville Rumble

In the first of three articles, Greville Rumble, Regional Director of the Open University UK's South East Region, addresses the issue of industrialisation and distance education, and in particular the concepts of Fordism, neo‐Fordism, and post‐Fordism. The author seeks to remind readers that not all distance education is industrialised; not all conventional education is craft based; and the cluster of concepts around ‘Fordism’ do not adequately explain the development of distance education.
