2. The Kargil conflict was a war between India and Pakistan which lasted from May until July 1999 along the Line of Control in the Kargil district of Kashmir. The Indian Army named its response to Pakistani infiltration Operation Vijay (Hindi for ‘victory’), which in India became synonymous with the conflict. 3. In January 2007, China’s anti-satellite missile test consisted of a missile launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Centre destroying a Chinese weather satellite in orbit.
