Managing change in Northern Ireland's rural economy

Outline

The problems of the rural economy in Northern Ireland pose a major challenge to policy makers. A suite of initiatives has been introduced during recent years to help respond to the challenges of rural regeneration. The period to 1999 will show substantial investment across a range of sectors but, as argued in this article, a more complete policy response requires consideration of appropriate delivery mechanisms. A number of strategic options which can inform this debate are presented.
