As per the author there was factual error they made in their article, concerning the involvement of Andrew Fire in the research that led to the gene-edited babies. The paragraph is indicated below:

On page 2, paragraph: “In the United States, He collaborated with 2006 Nobel Prize winners Andrew Fire and Craig Mello along with Stephen Quake at Stanford. ”

The author had since provided a corrected version of the paragraph which has now been updated in page 2 of the article. It now reads as below:

“He also spent a short period of time as a postdoc at Stanford University, although reports of collaboration with Stanford faculty were false (https://news.stanford.edu/2019/04/16/stanford-statement-fact-finding-review-related-dr-jiankui).”
