VALVE MORPHOLOGY OF SURIRELLA RORATA FRENGUELLI (BACILLARIOPHYCEAE)

Abstract

The valve morphology of Surirella rorata Frenguelli from El Divisorio stream, Buenos Aires, Argentina was analysed and compared with other species of the Surirella genus. A new structure, the canaliculi of the alar canal is described. The position of this species within the different groups of the genus is discussed.
