Abstract
It was brought to our attention that the specific epithet we used for a new species Nitzschia reimeri G. Fryxell & Kaczmarska found in the Equatorial Pacific (Kaczmarska & Fryxell 1994) has been already occupied. It was just recently used for a freshwater species Nitzschia reimerii Kociolek & Herbst (Kociolek & Herbst 1992). Under these circumstances we therefore propose to change the name of our new species to Nitzschia reimersenii.
