Abstract
This article uses a case study to illustrate Mujerista tenants for mental health practitioners working with the adult female Latinx population. Reviewed are potential Latinx cultural values, history, traditions, and political movements within the United States. We demonstrate the advantages and limitations of a Mujerista perspective in therapy to offer clinicians exposure to a culturally specific treatment for Latinx women. Further, the case study informs mental health practitioners of the unique issues relevant to some Latinx adult women, such as intergenerational trauma, gender scripts, and spirituality.
