ABSTRACT

The macroinvertebrates of a freshwater canal were analyzed for differentiation of community structure between leaf packs made of water oak, loblolly pine, sweetgum, bald cypress, and black willow. The community responded differently to the various leaf species when tested at the functional feeding and taxa levels. Generally, macrobenthos densities were a function of leaf species decay rates.
