ABSTRACT

Brachionus calyciflorus individuals collected during March from Lake Jinghu, China were cultured at 7, 13, 19, 25, and 31°C. None of the collected rotifers survived at 31°C. Between 7 and 25 °C, both culture temperature and rotifer batch and their interaction had significant effects on population growth rate, mixis rate, fertilization rate, and resting egg production. Rotifers collected late in March had the lowest population growth rate but the highest mixis and fertilization rates and resting egg production.
