ABSTRACT
The primary aim of this review is to explore how anxiety, and specific anxiety disorders, may be risk factors for suicide-related behavior in youth. Findings from adult literature are presented to serve as a foundation but highlighted as inadequate to replace the needed research specifically tailored to youth. Preliminary evidence for anxiety as a risk factor to suicidal behaviors in youth exists but is not well studied or understood. Suggestions for future research and clinical implications of relevant findings are presented for consideration.
