Health Care Disparities and Asthma

, MD, MPH
Pages 23-25 | Published online: 02 Jul 2009

Abstract

Asthma exists in many different populations, and there is more risk in certain populations or individuals compared to others. Disparate risk provides an opportunity for extreme asthma variability even among one ethnic group, one age group, or one socioeconomic class. Physicians treating asthma need to enhance their communicative skills and lead public health efforts to offer focused and consistent health messages outside of the medical home.
